What is cPanel?
cPanel is an easy to use control panel that many web hosting companies offer. The strength of this control panel is that it so simple to use that even newbies can figure out many of the functions with little or no help.Another glowing strength of cPanel is that it allows a user to easily manage a great many aspects of their hosting account. Here is a partial list of features, trust me there is a lot more...
Site Tools
Many of the tools are one-click or two-click simple. With cPanel you can customize error pages, set up redirects, edit MIME types and Apache handlers, manage files, set password protection on individual files or entire folders and more.
YOu can easily add, remove, and change passwords while managing email accounts. You can also set up autoresponders, email forwarding, simple mailing lists, spam filtering and more.
Backup
Backup allows you to create copies of account files and databases. The backup menu also allows you to download any automatic backups that were downloaded by your cPanel administrator.
Stats
Here are different tools to view bandwidth usage, view error logs, view how many visitors your site gets, where they come from, where they go on your site, how long they stay and more.
There are many, many other aspects to cPanel. You have an ability to add or remove subdomains, and depending on your hosting package, add new domains if you're allowed more than one domain.
You can also install shopping carts, bulletin boards, chat modules, guestbooks, blogs, content management systems and more, with just one click in some cases.
For beginners, CPanel has a lot of options that are easy to use. CPanel works with most browsers, such as IE, Opera, Firefox and others. There are other good control panels as well, but cPanel is one of our favorites.
If you are a beginner, you may appreciate the control panel at i-webhost.com, which is similar to cPanel and is also easy to use, but it also has built-in video tutorials for those that want to be extra sure of what they're doing.
